Guide to ANSI/BHMA Standards

ANSI/BHMA Standards and SARGENT Compliance

The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) working with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) develops and publishes performance standards for Builders Hardware. These standards have cycle, functional strength, security, dimension and finish requirements. If the products meet the standards, when tested by a nationally recognized testing laboratory the product may be listed in the “Directory of Certified Products,” a directory published by BHMA.

To obtain copies of the ANSI/BHMA standards or the certified products directory, visit the BHMA website at www.buildershardware.com.

Following are the ANSI/BHMA Standards that pertain to the products that Sargent produces, and the product line or series numbers that are covered by these standards. Also shown is a brief description of some of the tests and criteria in the various standards.

For the individual line or series catalog numbers and other details pertaining to these products consult the product catalog.
